One
Botswana Budget Safari:
Trip
starts in Kasane at 09:30 with a 3hr boat cruise into the
Chobe National Park, world renowned for its huge herds of
Elephant and Buffalo. Enjoy the sightings on offer, en
route to a pickup point where you will be met by your game
drive vehicle and transferred to our campsite in Ihaha.
After lunch and settling in to your tents, an afternoon game
drive on the riverfront is bound to impress with the
abundant bird life and vast amounts of animal movement, as
they come to quench their thirst in the Chobe River.
We then head back to camp for dinner around the campfire.
Day
Two and Three:
Rise to an early breakfast and break camp to head for
Savuti, an area well known for its prolific predators
including Lion and Leopard. There is also an
opportunity to view Cheetah and Wild Dog, two of Africa’s
most endangered predators. We game drive our way from
the riverfront through the Chobe Enclave to re enter the
park at Ghoha Hills after negotiating our way over the
notorious sand ridge and arriving at midday in time to set
up camp and have lunch under the large camel thorn acacias.
After settling in at camp we explore the area including the
Bushman paintings and the Savuti Marsh. We return to
camp to have dinner under the stars and listen to the
nocturnal sounds of owls, Jackal, Hyena and maybe a Lion
nearby…

Day
Four and Five:
Once again we rise to an early breakfast and break camp,
heading south for Moremi. The entire transit is one long
game drive with plenty of game viewing opportunities en
route. We set up our camp in Moremi, for two nights, giving
us a chance to explore the area at leisure without rushing
and have lunch in our new camp. After settling in and having
set up camp we head out on a game drive either to the Dombo
Hippo Pools, or east along the Khwai loop both very
rewarding areas to drive.
On
early morning game drives we will be hoping to see the rare
African Wild Dog and an abundance of other game, including
Zebra, Giraffe, Tsessebe and a host of other plains-game
species and hopefully predators.
Day
Six and Seven:
After breakfast we break camp and head for Maun. On route we
pass by traditional villages, virtually unchanged by western
influence. Upon
arrival in Maun we go for a scenic boat transfer into the delta,
this section being the only one on the trip where we have
the opportunity to stretch our legs on guided game walks. We arrive at camp in time to familiarize ourselves with the
tranquil ambiance. The region is rich in bird life and
there is a good chance of seeing any, or all of Africa’s
big five.
Day
Eight Budget Botswana safari: Later
rise and after breakfast, back to Maun where
the trip ends.
(please note that there may be seasonal variations to
this itinerary)
Guests
have several options at this point.
Maun has several regular flights to either: Johannesburg,
Cape Town, Windhoek or Kasane. Another option would be a bus
to Windhoek.
There are also several charter companies that can charter
flights to Vic Falls or Livingstone - prices available on
request.
This
trip is designed as a budget trip, with semi participation
required - i.e. putting up your tent and assisting with
certain chores like collecting firewood and packing. Days
are long with long drives through the game reserves from one
campsite to another. Meals
will consist of typical hearty ‘bush cuisine‘, prepared
on open fires and vegetarians need not worry, we cater for
you too!
The
trips will be conducted by skilled, licensed professional
guides with your ultimate bush experience and safety at
heart!
